Job summary

Overview & Position Summary

This position supports the development and maintenance of architectural drawings and construction documents that support product execution and community development. This role prepares detailed plans, elevations, and technical drawings under moderate supervision, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established standards. It collaborates with internal teams to incorporate feedback, address drafting-related questions, and maintain documentation quality across projects.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Produce accurate architectural drawings, plans, and elevations using established drafting standards and tools

  • Update and revise construction documents based on operational requirements, redlines, field feedback, and design changes

  • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with product standards and code requirements

  • Coordinate with internal teams to obtain information, clarify design intent, address drafting questions

  • Analyze drafting issues and develop solutions using prior experience and structured evaluation

  • Support consistency and standardization of drafting practices across plan sets and communities

  • Maintain drawing files, redlines, and documentation systems to ensure version control and consistency

  • Monitor design and production workflows, identifying and following up on requests and potential delays

  • Collaborate with consultants and external partners as needed to ensure coordinated information

  • Provide guidance or assistance to entry-level professionals or support employees


Required:

Education & Experience


  • Associate's degree in drafting, architecture, design, or a related field

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant drafting or architectural documentation experience

  • Experience preparing architectural drawings and technical documentation

  • Experience working within a team-based design or production environment


Preferred:


  • Additional experience drafting for residential, homebuilding, or construction projects

  • Knowledge of architectural documentation standards and drafting workflows

  • Experience using CAD or architectural drafting software platforms


Skills & Competencies


  • Broad knowledge of drafting standards, architectural principles, and construction documentation

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings

  • Effective communication skills to explain facts, policies, and practices within the team

  • Ability to solve difficult drafting issues using prior experience and analytical thinking

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in a general office environment with occasional visits to construction sites or model homes. Travel is minimal and typically limited to project coordination needs.


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods

  • Ability to operate computers, drafting tools, and standard office equipment

  • Ability to review detailed architectural drawings and technical documents

  • Ability to move within office environments to access files or equipment
