Description

The Group Fitness Instructor is a key member of the Reiver Fitness program, responsible for planning and instructing group fitness classes at the Dr. John and Jean Marshall Wellness Center.

Job Duties

  1. Check-in/register participants before each class.
  2. Plan and lead classes in a safe and effective manner.
  3. Encourage participants throughout the workout.
  4. Make modifications for participants’ varying abilities as necessary.
  5. Maintain an updated inventory of fitness equipment and supplies.
  6. Notify the Coordinator of Fitness & Wellness of any equipment or repair needs.
  7. Respond to emergency situations according to your level of first responder training.
  8. Keep accurate records of hours worked and submit timesheets when due.
  9. Uphold facility and program policies and expectations.
  10. Work approximately 3-5 hours per week, with hours varying including mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Fitness & Wellness.

Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled student in good standing.
  • Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Current NCCA Group Fitness certification or willingness to become certified.
  • Prior knowledge related to fitness and wellness.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, operate basic office equipment, and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. Skills in reading, writing, reasoning, and working independently are preferred.
