Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a dynamic, accomplished leader to serve as Program Director for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program within the School of Health Professions. This twelve-month, full-time faculty role emphasizes strategic direction, accreditation compliance, student success, and faculty development.

The incumbent will guide curriculum, outcomes assessment, and professional formation while collaborating across clinical and academic partners to advance

Qualifications

• Earned academic doctoral degree with a research component (PhD, EdD, DSc, or equivalent).
• Graduate degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist education program or equivalent.
• Eligible for rank of associate professor or professor per School guidelines.
• Current, unrestricted physical therapist license or eligibility in Alabama.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the DPT program.
• Develop and implement program goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives.
• Oversee budgeting, resources, and fiscal stewardship for the program.
• Ensure CAPTE compliance and lead accreditation reviews and site visits.
• Direct curriculum design, assessment, and ongoing program improvement.
• Recruit, hire, mentor, and evaluate DPT Core faculty and CCIs.
