Job summary

The Vermont Division of Fire Safety is seeking a team-oriented licensed master electrician to join our team as an Electrical Inspector in our Rutland Regional Office. This position will conduct field-based inspections of electrical installations in new construction and existing buildings.

The ideal candidate must multitask, have strong computer and technical skills, and extensive electrical code knowledge, working largely in a field setting with supervision by the Regional Manager.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or trade school graduation.
  • Vermont Master Electricians License.
  • Pass a security clearance conducted by the Department of Public Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of electrical installations to confirm compliance with the electrical code.
  • Provide electrical code support to field-based fire inspectors and plans examiners.
  • Investigate complaints alleging improper or unsafe electrical installations.
  • Provide advisement to the Electricians' Licensing Board as requested.

The Vermont Division of Fire Safety is seeking a team-orientated licensed master electrician to join our team as an Electrical Inspector in our Rutland Regional Office. This position will be tasked with conducting field-based inspections of electrical installations in new construction and existing buildings. The ideal candidate must be able to multitask efficiently and have strong computer and technical skills along with extensive electrical code knowledge. Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of the Regional Manager.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Performing inspections of electrical installations to confirm compliance with the electrical code.
  • Providing electrical code support to field-based fire inspectors and plans examiners
  • Investigation of complaints alleging improper or unsafe electrical installations.
  • Providing advisement to the Electricians' Licensing Board as requested.

PUBLIC SAFETY BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).

Duties are performed largely in a field setting involving a variety of construction and/or renovation sites. An incumbent may expect to encounter the total gamut of physical conditions found at such sites including exposure to potential danger. Considerable travel is involved for which private means of transportation must be available. The nature of the work may result in situations where strong and differing opinions will arise. Work outside of normal work schedule may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or trade school graduation AND a Vermont Master Electricians License.

Special Requirements

All candidates must pass a security clearance conducted by the Department of Public Safety, including a motor vehicle and criminal background check.
