The DPO Planning Manager is responsible for all activities related to supply and production planning for Device Postponement Operations. The DPO Planning Manager oversees Planning processes from production and material forecasts to finished goods delivery. The DPO Planning Manager works with other global Planning Managers and Material Managers to manage shipments, process orders, and ensure on-time delivery to order commitments. The DPO Planning Manager is based in the Postponement Facility in Monroe, Ohio along with a team of Site Technical Managers, Quality Managers, and Operations Managers.
Key job responsibilities
The DPO Planning Manager is responsible to:
* Create and maintain production schedules with capacity, materials, and customer demand as inputs;
* Analyze changes in demand, ensuring supply of materials and labor meet demand requirements;
* Drive solutions to reduce or eliminate short- or long-term gaps in supply plans and materials;
* Update Amazon systems weekly with Component Availability and Capacity-based Available-to-Ship data to support Global Production Planning Processes;
* Manage order prioritization with demand planning and contract manufacturer;
* Manage Contract Manufacturer to deliver to the forecast and to verify fulfillment of production and on-time-delivery;
* Lead weekly demand/capacity reviews with site leadership and contract manufacturer;
* Collaborate with Material Manager and Contract Manufacturer to forecast material needs and support shortage resolution;
* Communicate or escalate any Contract Manufacturer production risks, issues, concerns, to key internal stakeholders;
* Develop Planning Strategies for new and existing products through end of production to balance supply and demand.
* Assist in reporting product cost status, risks, and opportunities in executive reviews;
* Identify and drive planning process improvements projects;
* Travel up to 25%
A day in the life
The DPO Planning Manager is at the center of the DPO group, working closely with Demand Management, Factory Operations, Operations Program Management, other Supply chain managers, component suppliers and contract manufacturing. A day will consist of generating forecasts, ensuring that supply inputs are created and entered into the supply chain systems. Daily checks of production reports and progress are key to ensuring the factory meets plan and keeping internal customers aware of risk and opportunities. On some days you will work with the business intelligence team on reporting and metrics analysis. You will also work on process improvement to help make the DPO team more effective and efficient.

Device Postponement Operations (DPO) is Amazon Lab126’s team responsible for in-region postponement, customization, and pack-out of Amazon’s innovative devices. We finalize the assembly of devices using automated and manual assembly and pack-out lines so that Amazon can customize products to meet just-in-time demand. We enable Amazon to deliver very quickly to our customers the right configuration of a product at low cost and high quality.

- 3+ years of product management experience
- Experience managing technical products or online services
- Experience in product, program, or project management in leading cross-functional teams in delivery of major new products or services
- Knowledge of SQL and VBA at an advanced level
- Experience building and analyzing cost/benefit scenarios and business cases and communicating results throughout the organization
