Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is seeking a Playhouse Attendant to provide a safe, engaging environment for children in the playhouse area. You will supervise, lead activities, and maintain a clean space while communicating with parents.

The role requires the ability to handle emergencies calmly, strong communication, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends. Prior childcare experience and CPR/First Aid certification are preferred; willingness to obtain certification upon hire is

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Previous childcare experience in daycare, preschool, camp, or similar setting.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Supervise children in the playhouse area at all times.
• Ensure safety and well-being by following YMCA policies.
• Conduct regular headcounts and monitor activities to prevent accidents.
• Respond to emergencies calmly and effectively.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities (games, crafts, storytelling, education).
• Encourage positive social interactions among children.
• Greet parents and children upon arrival and departure.
• Communicate with parents regarding child’s experience and issues.
• Provide feedback to Youth Programs Coordinator/Director.
• Maintain a clean, safe playhouse area.
• Sanitize toys, equipment, and surfaces regularly.
• Report any needs to Youth Programs Coordinator/Director.
• Maintain attendance records.
• Report incidents or concerns immediately.

The Playhouse Attendant is responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children in the YMCA playhouse area. The attendant ensures the well-being of the children, leads activities, and maintains a clean and organized space. This role requires a passion for working with children, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle emergencies calmly and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children in the playhouse area at all times.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by following YMCA policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular headcounts and monitor children’s activities to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to any emergencies or incidents.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, including games, arts and crafts, storytelling, and educational programs.
• Encourage positive social interactions among children.
• Adapt activities to meet the needs and interests of individual children and the group.
• Greet parents and children warmly upon arrival and departure.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s experience and any issues or concerns.
• Provide feedback to the Youth Programs Coordinator/Director on program success and areas for improvement.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized playhouse area.
• Sanitize toys, equipment, and surfaces regularly to prevent the spread of germs.
• Ensure that supplies are stocked and report any needs to the Youth Programs Coordinator/Director.

Additional Duties

• Maintain accurate attendance records.
• Report any incidents, accidents, or concerns to the Youth Programs Coordinator/Director immediately.
