Job summary

Merck seeks a Scientist in Downstream Vaccines and Advanced Biotechnologies Process R&D at West Point, PA to lead adjuvant downstream development, scale-up, and tech transfer for vaccine programs. Qualifications

• BS or MS in engineering or bio/chemical sciences.
• For BS, at least two years of pharma/biotech experience; for MS, at least one year post-grad bioprocess experience.
• Strong downstream bioprocess purification knowledge and scale-up understanding.
• Hands-on bioprocess development experience in academia or industry.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, execute and analyze downstream process development experiments for adjuvant production.
• Lead downstream design and development for novel adjuvant candidates and tech transfer.
• Represent area on cross-functional vaccine development teams.
• Mentor colleagues and support strategic efforts in vaccine process development.
• Work with analytical methods (HPLC, scattering, spectroscopy) to interpret data.
