Job summary

Merck is seeking an innovative Scientist to join our West Point, PA research site. You will lead bioconjugation process development and downstream bioprocess activities for vaccine candidates, collaborating with Analytical, Formulation and Manufacturing teams.

You will design experiments, mentor staff, and drive tech transfer for clinical and commercial production, with emphasis on scale-up and regulatory readiness in a cross-functional setting.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in engineering or bio/chemical sciences with relevant background
• Experience in downstream bioprocess/bioconjugation development
• Willing to work with infectious agents and travel as needed

Responsibilities

• Design and execute process development experiments to maximize vaccine production
• Lead downstream process design and development for vaccine candidates
• Represent area on cross-functional vaccine development teams
• Lead tech transfer of vaccine drug substance processes for clinical and commercial manufacture
• Mentor in downstream bioprocess/bioconjugation development and provide technical guidance
