Job summary

Baker Hughes in Minnesota is seeking a Maintenance Technician – Downhole Tools to assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair complex downhole tools used in oilfield operations. You will apply hands-on expertise across electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems to ensure safe, reliable delivery in demanding environments.

The role requires an associate degree and 3–5 years of hands-on experience with electromechanical or downhole tool systems.

Qualifications

3–5 years hands-on experience with electromechanical, hydraulic, or downhole tool systems.
Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and procedures.
Experience with electronic test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes).
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Basic computer skills for documentation and test data entry.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.

Responsibilities

Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair downhole electronic assemblies.
Assemble, disassemble, inspect, and repair mechanical components.
Assemble, test, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems.
Perform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and system-level testing.
Conduct pressure, leak, and environmental tests to specifications.
Diagnose failures, support root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with QMS and HSE requirements.
Maintain documentation, inspection records, and traceability.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and field service teams.
Support continuous improvement initiatives.
