Job summary

L3Harris Technologies seeks a Spec, Technical Writing to produce high-quality technical publications for DoD programs in a fast-paced environment. You will gather, compose, and edit manuals for flight and maintenance, ensuring MIL standards and cross-functional collaboration.

Experience with IETMs, S1000D, and interface control documents is essential. Strong MS Office skills and the ability to work with engineers throughout the publication lifecycle are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Position prefers ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

• Author IETMs, technical manuals, and other documentation for Air Force programs in an S1000D environment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, wire lists, schematics, and software interface control documents.
• Conduct interviews with engineering personnel to ensure documentation accuracy and MIL standards.
• Lead projects within defined budgets and schedules, and coordinate with stakeholders and customers.
• Utilize MS Office and related applications to prepare publishable content.

Job Description:

Technical Publications is a unified team of professionals committed to providing quality and timely publication deliverables for commercial and government projects in a dynamic environment. Team members are responsible for gathering, composing, and editing technical information to prepare flight manuals, maintenance manuals, and other technical documentation for our warfighters.

Essential Functions:

• Prior experience authoring Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM), technical maintenance manuals, Flight Operation Manuals, and in an S1000D environment for Air Force programs.
• Working knowledge of or experience with Rivet Joint/Cobra Ball/Combat Sent Mission system architecture and mission profile. Working knowledge of Rivet Joint/Cobra Ball/Combat Sent Mission system equipment and maintenance.
• Operational knowledge of Rivet Joint/Cobra Ball/Combat Sent Mission system is a must.
• Interpret engineering drawings, wire lists, schematics, hardware specifications, software requirements specifications, software interface control documents, test procedures.
• Conduct interviews with engineering personnel to ensure the technical documentation is precise, comprehensive, and meets professional/MIL standards.
• Works under general supervision. May be responsible for entire projects or processes within job area. May be responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area. May manage projects at this level with responsibility for the delegation of work and the review of others' work product.
• Must be able to work well with colleagues, internal stakeholders, and external customers.
• Must be able to work within and potentially lead defined budgets and meet schedule deadlines.
• Strong computer skills with solid understanding of MS Office Suite and applications.
• Familiarity with S1000D Standard, Webex authoring, and Localized CSDB desired.
