Job summary

V Group Inc. in Hartford, CT seeks a Senior Developer to support modernization for the Office of Early Childhood. Qualifications

  • Proficiency in ASP.NET MVC and Entity Framework for web app development.
  • Expertise in automated data validation scripts (SQL or other scripting languages).
  • Strong grasp of relational databases, data modeling, and data mapping techniques.
  • Experience documenting and validating legacy-to-modern data and interface mappings.
  • Proficiency in Azure DevOps for managing work items, tests, and defects.
  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Visio.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with OEC stakeholders and technical teams to elicit, analyze, and document requirements.
  • Translate business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria, maintaining a refined backlog.
  • Document current and future state workflows, integration points, and data dependencies.
  • Create and validate data mapping documents between legacy and modern systems.
  • Develop interface mapping documentation to align legacy screens with modern components.
  • Define and maintain functional, non-functional, and reporting requirements with end-to-end traceability.
  • Design, develop, and refactor components using ASP.NET MVC, EF, and Azure App Service.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline setup and optimization using Azure DevOps.
  • Work with Azure SQL databases to design schema, implement stored procedures, and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with data engineers on SSIS-based ETL processes and migrations.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure best practices for performance and security.
  • Develop and maintain automated reusable data validation scripts to verify migrated data.
  • Validate record counts, referential integrity, transformations, and business rule consistency.
  • Identify and analyze data discrepancies and resolve issues with teams.
  • Maintain documentation for data validation procedures and transformation logic.
  • Support testing (system, integration, UAT) by creating and executing test cases.
  • Log defects and testing results using Azure DevOps.
  • Be an active member of a cross-functional Scrum team delivering increments.
  • Participate in all Scrum ceremonies and backlog refinement with Product Owner.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability.

Scope of Project:

The Office of Early Childhood (OEC) is seeking a Senior Developer to support application development, modernization, and data migration initiatives across OEC systems. The consultant will be responsible for designing and developing Power Apps solutions, customer-facing web applications, and enhancements to existing .NET applications.

This position combines business analysis, software development, data migration validation, and Agile Scrum participation. The selected candidate will work as part of a cross-functional Scrum team, collaborating closely with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, testers, and data specialists to deliver high-quality software solutions and successful modernization outcomes.

A key component of this role includes supporting data migration efforts through the creation of automated and reusable data validation scripts, documenting legacy-to-modern system mappings, and ensuring migration accuracy across environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with OEC stakeholders and technical teams to elicit, analyze, and document business and system requirements.
  • Translate business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria, maintaining a refined Azure DevOps product backlog.
  • Document current and future state workflows, integration points, and data dependencies.
  • Create and validate data mapping documents between legacy and modern systems.

  • Participate in all Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner to refine and prioritize backlog items and define sprint goals.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, team collaboration, and shared accountability.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in ASP.NET MVC and Entity Framework for web application development.
