Job summary

MB HAYNES Corporation in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Traffic Signal and Sports Lighting Project Manager to lead estimating, bidding, scheduling, and coordinating multiple projects from start to finish. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s in Construction Management or related field, plus strong problem-solving abilities and proficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field is recommended.
  • Electrical license is desired, but not required.
  • Experience estimating and budgeting for construction projects.
  • Excellent mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple teams and manage personnel resources.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate adaptability to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
  • Utilize analytical and problem-solving abilities to ensure successful, timely estimates.
  • Prepare and review outgoing proposals and bids prior to submission.
  • Maintain relationships with current customers while identifying and securing new customers.
  • Attend project coordinator and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as required.
  • Perform Construction Administration activities including submittals, RFIs, meeting records, and document logs.
  • Submit budgets to customers detailing what is covered within the budget and repeat with necessary adjustments.

Position Summary

The Traffic Signal and Sports Lighting Project Manager will help with estimating, managing, Scheduling, and Tracking projects to the end.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise
    • Maintain and perform multiple estimating projects simultaneously.
    • Work with Superintendents and Foreman to plan, organize, and direct activities related to construction projects within the trade.
    • Demonstrate adaptability to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
    • Utilize analytical and problem-solving abilities to ensure successful, timely estimates.
    • Prepare and review outgoing proposals and bids prior to submission.
    • Maintain relationships with current customers while identifying and securing new customers.
    • Attend project coordinator and owner/contractor/ architect/ engineer meetings as required.
    • Perform Construction Administration activities including submittals, requests for information, meeting records, document logs, etc.
    • Perform additional assignments and responsibilities as expected or requested by supervision.
  • Bids & Preconstruction
    • Assess invitations to bid from internal and external customers and respond in the best interest of the division.
    • Review specifications and bid forms for all requirements and potential obscurities not addressed in drawings.
    • Assist in plan and spec analysis to provide clear, trackable, and coordinated interpretations of the design/drawling for construction.
    • Assist in providing technical information to company employees and subcontractors to ensure the project complies with all standards, codes, specifications, and design documents.
    • Submit budgets to customers detailing what is covered within the budget and repeat with necessary adjustments throughout budgeting phases, as needed.
    • Track bid results and approximate manpower for future scheduled work.
    • Analyze results of bids and determine the cause of any significant bid differences to suggest potential solutions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field recommended.
  • Electrical license desired, but not required.
  • Previous experience estimated labor content of jobs preferred.
  • Excellent mathematical skills, including application and use in problem-solving.
  • Ability to coordinate own and others’ actions, manage own time and manage personnel resources.
  • Sensitivity to problems; ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Proven people, process, and performance skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft programs. Experience with scheduling and Construction Administration software a plus.
  • Self-starter and self-motivated with a strong desire to learn.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing walking and driving.
  • Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and/or rainy spring, summer and fall weather, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
  • May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites of projects being managed or coordinated.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • When working on site, will be required to wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, high visibility vests and masks.
