Job summary

Total Safety in Corpus Christi, TX is seeking a DOT Driver to join our safety-focused team. You will drive a commercial truck and trailers, perform inspections, and handle DOT documentation while ensuring compliant operations.

Cross-trained in air work, gas detection, and rescue services, you will support equipment delivery, maintenance, and onsite safety services. You must have DOT driving experience, a valid CDL with Hazmat endorsement, and forklift certification.

Qualifications

• 12+ months verifiable DOT driving experience within last 3 years.
• Valid DOT medical examiner's certificate (minimum 3 months before expiration).
• Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance proof; FMCSR-compliant record.
• CDL class A/B/C with DOT/Hazmat endorsements; forklift training completion.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up equipment and supplies to designated locations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and routine maintenance.
• Complete required DOT and company documentation accurately and timely.
• Inspect equipment for damage and wear; report issues promptly.
• Assist with loading/unloading and staging orders for delivery.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas; support other facility tasks as needed.
• Assist in roadside issues and emergency repairs when required.

Total Safety is looking for aDOT Driver to join their safety conscious team! The DOT Driver drives a commercial truck and a variety of trailers to pick up, haul and unload equipment and supplies to and from job sites and customer locations. Cross trained in air work, gas detection, and rescue services. Complies with current DOT regulations.

Essential Duties:

• Refers to the safety and operations checklists of steps to be followed for each trailer type to be pulled and follows checklist before each haul. Completes DOT and company-required documentation.
• Provides timely delivery and pick-up to and from designated customer locations.
• When picking up equipment, inspect for damage and/or excessive wear and note accordingly.
• Complies with current DOT regulations including but not limited to timely qualification renewals, equipment and cargo security inspections, electronic logging devices, and other required transport documentation.
• Completes all documentation associated with delivery and pickup in a timely and accurate manner and obtains signature from customer so that proper invoicing and documentation can be provided to customer.
• Performs basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and/or trailer.
• Performs pre-trip, post-trip, and ad-hoc equipment inspections as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) on all commercial motor vehicles and trailers.
• Performs weekly inspections on all non-DOT assigned trucks and trailers to ensure that all required safety and preventative maintenance measures have been executed and documented.
• Assists others in facility including stocking shelves with clean, tested, and ready to use equipment and pulling, staging, and loading customer orders onto trucks for delivery.
• Maintains work area and other areas in a clean and orderly condition.
• Servicing customers and/or company owned electronics and respiratory equipment.
• Assists others as needed. May need to perform emergency roadside repairs.

Skills and Experience:

• Must possess at least 12 months of verifiable DOT driving experience within the last three (3) years; a valid DOT medical examiners certificate with a minimum of 3 months prior to expiration; be insurable for Total Safety vehicle insurance while driving the company truck; and a satisfactory driving record meeting all requirements of the FMCSR and company policies.
• Minimum of manufacturer field level training and certification in respiratory and instrumentation. Valid driver's license from state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance. Commercial driver's license per requirements of facility class A, B, or C with HAZMAT endorsement. Must comply with current DOT regulations. Must pass internal forklift training and certification.

Working Environment:

• Shop, yard, traffic, and customer environments. May be frequently exposed to wet, humid weather conditions and vibration. Shop, plants, highway traffic, and road debris.
• High pressure, chemicals, shop traffic. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
