Job summary

American Association of Medical Dosimetrists seeks a skilled professional to provide comprehensive radiation therapy treatment planning in a freestanding outpatient center.

The candidate coordinates dosimetry plan procedures with the radiation oncology team and performs QA verifications and measurements under the Medical Physicist’s direction, including 3DCRT, IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, and RapidArc techniques.

Qualifications

• Board-certified Medical Dosimetrists required.
• Bachelor’s degree in radiation therapy/health sciences or ARRT registry.
• Graduate of a MDCB-accredited dosimetry program (12 months) or MDCB-certified with associate degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive radiation therapy treatment plans.
• Coordinate dosimetry plan procedures with radiation oncology team.
• Perform QA measurements and dose verifications as directed by Medical Physicist.

Job description

Providing comprehensive treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy in a freestanding outpatient radiation therapy center. You will coordinate associated dosimetry plan procedures with members of the radiation oncology team. You will have knowledge of the overall characteristics of radiation oncology treatment and imaging equipment, and will be cognizant of and maintain proficiency in modern treatment planning and delivery procedures used in Radiation Oncology, including, but not limited to 3DCRT, IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, RapidArc Therapy. You will also play a key role in the overall quality assurance (QA) efforts by performing radiation dose verifications with additional calculations and measurements, multi-modality image analysis, and other physics support such as QA and patient-specific QA measurements, radiation survey, and calibration of radiation emitting devices, as directed by the Medical Physicist. Will consider part time applicants.

Qualifications Include:

• Board certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB)
• A bachelor’s degree in radiation therapy, health sciences, or ARRT registry
• A graduate of a Medical Dosimetry JRCERT accredited program of at least 12 months or an associate degree for candidates with existing active MDCB certification
• The demonstrated ability to utilize/apply knowledge of computers, computer treatment planning, planning techniques, and procedures
• Knowledge of radiation physics, dosimetry, and state, federal, and local radiation regulations

Preferred Qualifications Include:

• Experience as a certified medical dosimetrist
• Experience with Varian Eclipse treatment planning, ARIA electronic charting
• Previous work experience as a radiation therapist preferred
• A CMD with at least 2 years experience
