Job summary

Navajo Preparatory School is seeking a Residential Advisor to provide proactive support and mentorship to resident students. You will help create a balanced, nurturing dorm environment and supervise daily activities, safety, and academic support.

The role requires an AA degree and experience with high school residents, plus strong communication skills and a willingness to work with Navajo students. The position is hourly and non-exempt.

Qualifications

• AA degree required; coursework related to child development, education, or behavioral sciences.
• Two or more years of experience with high school students in a residential setting.
• Strong computer skills.
• Basic counseling knowledge and methods for students.
• Strong leadership, communication and human relations with Native American students.
• Ability to speak Navajo is preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication with students, staff, parents, and the public.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive support and mentorship to resident students.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing dorm environment.
• Develop a strong residential program with activities and oversight.
• Monitor student safety, attendance, and grade checks; document incidents.
• Coordinate intake and dorm meetings; supervise study halls and tutoring.
• Ensure confidentiality of student information and reports.
• Report safety or policy concerns to the Dean of Student Life.
