Job summary

CIRES, the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder, invites applications for a Temporary Researcher in NOAA’s Chemical Sciences Laboratory (CSL). You will join the Atmospheric Remote Sensing program and focus on post-processing and analysis of Doppler lidar data from field campaigns.

The role supports a highly collaborative culture across federal and university scientists, with potential field deployment and hybrid work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, meteorology, atmospheric science, environmental engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience in experimental physical/atmospheric sciences.
• Experience in data analysis and programming (such as MATLAB, IDL, or other image visualization software).

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret lidar measurements and use data for boundary layer research studies.
• Participate in planning of group short- and long‑term research strategies.
• Opportunity to participate in field campaigns; deploy Doppler and/or ozone lidar systems, design/ test measurement strategies, and monitor instrument performance.
