Job Summary

The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences(CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder is hiring a datamanager to support NOAA’s National Center for EnvironmentalInformation (NCEI). Based at the David Skaggs Research Center inBoulder, Colorado, the successful candidate will support largevolume data management for the ocean acoustic community.

Joining a multidisciplinary team of scientists, data managers, andsoftware engineers, the candidate will assist with stewarding oceanacoustic data, inclusive of public discovery and access, and supplycustomer service to global data users. The candidate will alsostrengthen existing partnerships within the community to address avast need for data management.

The ideal applicant will have experience managing large and/orcomplex data sets, possess strong organizational and communicationskills, a keen attention to detail, the ability to operateindependently, and a flexible, upbeat approach to collaboratingwith team members.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

• Manage the passive acoustic data archive (50%)
• Communicate with community and archive team to coordinate andshepherd data submissions, prioritize submissions, identifyenhancements or new capabilities needed to accomplish archiveobjectives (20%)
• Maintain relational databases to enable discovery and access todata (10%)
• Support the water column sonar data archive (10%)
• Self-manage work with a variety of projects, stakeholders, andteam members concurrently (10%)

What You Should Know

• Visa sponsorship is not offered for this role. Candidates whomay require visa sponsorship now or in the future or who areworking in the U.S through a visa or a working permit, are noteligible for hire in this role.
• Given project deliverables, candidates must be eligible to workin the U.S on a full-time basis and have federal clearancecompleted by the targeted start date of November 1.This position will be rostered in CIRES at the University ofColorado Boulder but will be physically situated at the NOAA officein Boulder, CO (David Skaggs Research Center, 325 Broadway,Boulder, CO).
• Selected finalists will be required to pass a federalbackground clearance check.

• The hiring salary range for this position is $57,942-$85,272 . Salary is commensurate with education and experienceand determined based on our CIRES internal career trackclassification.
