Door-to-Door Senior Transportation Driver

Job summary

Active Day is seeking a dependable Driver to transport members in mobility buses, assist with on-boarding/off-boarding, and escort members door-to-door in all weather. You will ensure safety, maintain courteous service, and support daily center operations.

Responsibilities include vehicle inspections, adhering to schedules, coordinating with the transportation team, and assisting with special needs transport while upholding company standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 21 years of age.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Prior experience working as a driver preferred but not required.
• Valid driver’s license and state/vehicle-specific driver credentials.
• Prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred.
• Able to push, pull, bend, turn, pivot, transfer and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to pass required physical exams including Department of Transportation (DOT) exam.
• Successful results of background check, motor vehicle report, drug testing and any other state-specific requirements.
• Knowledge of local geographic area preferred.
• Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and PASS may be required and will be facilitated as part of job training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and follow maintenance and fueling schedule.
• Routinely exchange recommendations and insight with coworkers for best practices.
• Assist members with on- and off-boarding and with any special needs during transport.
• Maintain vehicle information, including route, mileage, fuel and service records.
• Maintain and secure company property, including vehicle and fuel cards.
• Communicate professionally with members, families, and staff.
• Deliver information to family members as requested.
• Report issues to supervisor or center director.
• Comply with policies, safety, and regulatory laws.
• Assist in identifying operational efficiencies to enhance member experience.
• Other duties as assigned.
