Job summary

Dixie Overhead Door in Homewood, AL is seeking a full-time apprentice door service technician to join our family‑owned team. The role focuses on installing and servicing garage doors, with opportunities to learn and grow in a supportive environment.

You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and work with customers and team members to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion of tasks.

Qualifications

• Welding and stick welding knowledge preferred.
• 0–2 years’ experience with garage doors preferred.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver heavy items; climb ladders; work at heights and in tight spaces.
• Familiar with maintenance tools and equipment including a tape measure.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills of welding and stick welding preferred
• 0-2 years of experience working with garage doors preferred
• You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; be able to push, pull, carry or maneuver heavier items (with additional manpower or appropriate devices); carry ladders; work from heights, work in small spaces.
• Familiarity with maintenance tools and equipment including a tape measure required.
• You must be able to skillfully work with hands and have good craftmanship.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance, repair of electrical systems, and equipment.
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to pass a drug test, background check, driving record check, and physical fitness test.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
