Job summary

Rhode Island Blood Center is seeking a dedicated driver to help achieve our blood collection goals. You’ll set up, operate, and takedown mobile blood drives, and transport blood products while building strong relationships with hospital staff and sponsors.

This role requires flexible hours, DOT awareness, and a commitment to safety; you’ll join a mission-driven team that saves lives and supports the community. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered for this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2–3 years of truck or bus driving experience.
• Valid, clean driver's license.
• Ability to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Experience driving straight trucks, cargo vans, or non-CDL buses.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support Blood Drive Operations: Help set up and take down mobile blood drives with ease and efficiency.
• Manage Blood Transport: collaborate with colleagues to safely transport and deliver blood and blood products from drives.
• Assist and Serve: Provide excellent customer service to clients, donors, and team members by building partnerships with hospitals, drive sponsors, and staff; ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Handle Various Tasks: Be ready to tackle additional tasks as they come up to support the team during the drive with a can-do attitude.

In this role, you will be on the front lines, ensuring the efficient setup, operation, and takedown of mobile blood drives. You will use your communication and customer service skills to build strong relationships with hospital and vendor staff as you deliver and transport blood and blood products. A successful driver will also need exceptional problem-solving skills to manage weather-related driving challenges and report any issues to management. Every day, you will make a measurable difference by helping save lives through safe and efficient transport of blood donations.
