Job summary

Rhode Island Blood Center seeks a dedicated driver to support mobile blood drives, ensuring efficient setup, transport, and takedown. You will work with hospital staff and sponsors to deliver blood products and maintain safety standards.

The role requires 2–3 years driving truck/bus experience, a valid license, and ability to lift 50 lbs; flexibility for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2–3 years of truck or bus driving experience preferred.
• A valid/clean driver’s license.
• Ability to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Demonstrated experience driving a straight truck, cargo van, and non-CDL bus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and follow instructions.
• Must be flexible to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support Blood Drive Operations: set up and take down mobile blood drives with ease and efficiency.
• Manage Blood Transport: safely transport and deliver blood and blood products from drives to ensure they reach their destination in top condition.
• Assist and Serve: provide excellent customer service to clients, donors, and team members by building partnerships with hospitals, drive sponsors, and staff; interact with donors and maintain safety procedures.

About therole:

We’re looking for a dedicated driver who will be instrumental in achieving our blood collection goals and supporting our life-saving mission.

In this role, you will be on the front lines, ensuring the efficient setup, operation, and takedown of mobile blood drives. You will use your communication and customer service skills to build strong relationships with hospital and vendor staff as you deliver and transport blood and blood products. A successful driver will also need exceptional problem-solving skills to manage weather-related driving challenges and report any issues to management. Every day, you will make a measurable difference by helping save lives through safe and efficient transport of blood donations.
