Position Summary:

TPL seeks a new Donor Relations, Senior Coordinator. This position is part of the Philanthropy Programs/Donor Relations and Stewardship team, which has members located throughout the U.S.

Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations & Stewardship, the Donor Relations, Senior Coordinator is a skilled writing professional with a special focus on writing custom acknowledgements for TPL’s most generous donors, including acknowledgement letters from the President and CEO and stewardship communication pieces. This position is instrumental in acknowledging and stewarding Trust for Public Land’s donors, inspiring them to continue to support our mission and work.

Day-to-day work involves working in our Customer Relationship Management system to create acknowledgement letters and other communication pieces and coordinating with staff in multiple offices across the country to ensure TPL donors are properly recognized for their charitable gifts. Building relationships and positive rapport with internal and external stakeholders is critical to the success of the Donor Relations and Stewardship program overall.

The successful candidate will be a highly skilled, well-rounded individual capable of performing a diverse set of tasks. The successful candidate will be team-oriented and possess the ability to be flexible and adaptable, jumping in and completing a variety of tasks from the mundane to the complex.

Responsibilities

• Craft inspiring custom acknowledgement letters for TPL’s most generous donors.
• Communicate with TPL’s President and CEO and other senior leadership.
• Ensure all written materials are engaging, accurate, and reflect TPL’s mission and values.
• Collaborate with field offices to produce donor-centric stewardship reports.
• Draft, edit, and shepherd content through approval processing.
• Facilitate meaningful, lifelong relationships between TPL and its donors through thoughtful and strategic communication efforts.
• Communicate effectively across departments to elevate the donor experience and to gather information needed to create detailed, compelling content.
• Act with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture, values, and mission of Trust for Public Land.
• Approach job functions and teammates with the flexibility to rapidly adjust and to address competing priorities.

Essential Functions

Custom Acknowledgements (55%):

• Research and write highly customized donor acknowledgement letters for VIP donors, TPL Board Members, and TPL’s most generous donors.
• Maintain the highest standards for quality, accuracy, and on-time delivery of communications.
• Interpret donor records, analyze gift data, and investigate gifts and donor using TPL’s Customer Relationship Management system.
• Ensure custom acknowledgment program and processes are sustainable and efficient.

Stewardship Communications (35%):

• Oversee and manage one of Donor Relation’s stewardship programs.
• Research and write custom impact reports and narratives.
• Lend additional writing, design, and editorial support.

Donor Services (10%):

• Respond to gift and acknowledgement specific inquiries from Relationship Managers and donors.
• Ensure that the accuracy and integrity of database is maintained.
• Serve as backup for donor inquiries to the main phone number and email inbox.
• Support Philanthropy Programs staff as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS:

• A passion for TPL’s mission and for social and environmental justice is essential.
• Candidate should be close to a TPL office location.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Team player with the ability to work cooperatively with different personalities and individuals across the organization as well as outside the organization.
• Strong attention to detail, good recordkeeping, responsible time management, and the ability to juggle many deadlines at once with limited supervision.
• Pre-hire proficiency required in Microsoft Windows, Office (particularly Excel and Word).
• Ability to problem solve and come up with strategies to improve processes and systems.
• Position requires a high degree of professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to highly confidential information.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS:

• College or Associates degree preferred and/or minimum of 2-5 years of administrative support experience or equivalent.
• Experience working in a nonprofit fundraising or membership capacity is strongly preferred.
• Pre-hire proficiency and experience in database report software and Adobe InDesign.
• Experience in database report software strongly preferred.

Compensation

Trust for Public Land is a hybrid work environment, and this role will ideally be located near a Trust for Public Land office. As a full-time employee, you will be eligible for the Trust for Public Land’s comprehensive benefits program which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, vacation and sick pay plus holidays, a year end office closure, and a 403(b)-retirement plan, currently with up to a 7% company match. We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience; the anticipated hiring range for this position is $65,000-$75,000.
