Job summary

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is seeking a Phlebotomist in Tampa, FL. The role requires handling blood collection, donor registration, and eligibility determination with a focus on safety and customer service.

Responsibilities include recruitment support, donor scheduling, and occasional bilingual screening potential compensation for English/Spanish speakers. Starting salary range is $16.50 - $18.15 per hour; full-time benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license and LifeSouth driver eligibility.
• Proficient in a variety of computer software applications.
• Excellent teamwork skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• CDL holders preferred, additional compensation available.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomies and collect blood from donors according to LifeSouth SOP.
• Collect blood using automated instruments (once trained).
• Register donors for blood collection in the LifeSouth computer system (IBBIS).
• Determine donor eligibility based on donor interview and physical process.
• Accurately identify donors in every step of the donation process.
• Assist in recruitment, tele-recruitment and rescheduling of donors.
• Convert donors to automated technology (apheresis) when appropriate.
• Provide the highest level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
