  • Provide customer and donor assistance throughout the store and donation areas.
  • Restock and rotate merchandise; price and markdown items as needed; pull and sort product.
  • Communicate needs of the donation area to store management; report donor/customer issues and supplies needed.
  • Maintain accurate counts of incoming product; keep donation area and stockroom clean and organized.
  • Keep management informed of safety concerns and essential needs for smooth operations.
  • Support teamwork and inclusion; participate in problem-solving with staff.

Job Summary

In this full-time role, you will be a key member of the Dig & Save St. Vincent de Paul thrift store team, which is tasked with delivering excellent service to our customers, donors and clients. The fundamental responsibility is to maintain the production goals of the warehouse/donation area, but the person in this role must be flexible and perform other tasks when needed. This is an essential position that allows us to contribute to the many services SVdP provides!

What You’ll Do
  • Load and unload clothing baler while following SVdP safety protocols and maintaining production goals
  • Receive and process donations based on the SVdP Take/Do Not Take list guidelines, packing and loading items onto a semi-trailer or into the stock room as appropriate
  • Assist donors with unloading donations and loading purchases into customer vehicles
  • Provide customer and donor assistance throughout the store and donation areas by answering questions, anticipating needs, offering help and encouraging sales
  • Restock and rotate merchandise on the sales floor, accurately price and mark down items as needed and pull and sort product in accordance with company guidelines and safety protocols
  • Communicate the needs of the donation area and warehouse to store management, including donor/customer issues, supplies needed and other departmental needs
  • Keep an accurate count of incoming product and maintain a clean and organized donation area and stockroom
  • Keep management informed of safety concerns, problems, supplies needed and essentials to the smooth running of the SVdP Thrift Store.
  • Participate in an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration by listening, fostering dialogue and facilitating joint problem-solving while supporting an inclusive and equitable organization
  • Adhere to the Safeguarding Policy by ensuring timely completion of mandatory training, staying updated on relevant training modules, and undergoing the necessary background checks to maintain compliance

  • Employee must have the ability to maintain professional, patient and courteous interactions with a diverse base of customers, donors, clients and SVdP staff
  • Employee must frequently stand, walk, talk and hear, use hands to handle or touch products, tools or controls
  • Employee must stand at workstation for 3 hours between breaks
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance and occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds with assistance from equipment or another person
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Employee must be able to follow instructions and work autonomously on assigned job duties
  • Employee must be able to work assigned shifts consistently and reliably

The Thrift store and Processing Center working environment may contain dust, debris or allergens commonly associated with all manner of pre-owned clothing, furniture and household goods. Certain areas of the facilities are only partially climate controlled.
