Job summary

Blue Ridge Care invites applicants for a Central Sorting Specialist to manage daily donation processing, sorting, tagging, and transfer to warehouse or thrift operations. The role supports thrift shop activities and keeps donation spaces organized and safe.

You will work closely with volunteers and staff, ensuring accurate workflow and timely completion of tasks, while upholding the charity’s mission and community impact.

Qualifications

• Experience handling donations and sorting in a nonprofit setting is preferred.
• Ability to work with volunteers and staff in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Sort, organize, and tag donations per procedures.
• Transfer items to warehouse or thrift shop as needed.
• Maintain orderly donation room and storage areas.
• Assist thrift shop with sorting clothing donations.
• Keep donation room clean, organized, and safe year‑round.
• Track supplies for the donation room and warehouse needs.
• Help warehouse team with loading/unloading truck deliveries.
• Coordinate with volunteers to ensure tasks are completed.
• Accommodate volunteers, including lifting totes or assisting with tasks.
• Collaborate with staff across donation, sorting, and transport operations.
• Attend meetings with supervisor to review operations.
• Perform daily duties independently and professionally.
• Be receptive to feedback and seek guidance as needed.
• Accurately enter payroll data in Paycom and maintain timelines.
• Support Blue Ridge Care’s mission, values, and philosophy in all interactions.
• Maintain positive relationships with the public, volunteers, and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
