Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory seeks a Production Assistant / Driver to operate a DOT‑regulated box truck, collect donated goods, and support the Adult Rehabilitation Center's mission. You will blend warehouse tasks with safe driving and donor interaction across routes in Kansas City.

Required are a high school diploma, 2+ years licensed driving, DOT‑related credentials, and the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. Flexible hours and weekend shifts are available.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of licensed driving experience operating trucks or similar vehicles.
• Licenses / Certifications: Valid state driver's license (Kansas or Missouri) with a clean MVR; a DOT‑compliant license for operating a box truck; a current Medical Examiner's Certificate (Med Card) as required by federal and state DOT regulations; pass DOT physical, drug screen, and background check prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Represent The Salvation Army professionally to donors with courtesy and respect.
• Safely operate a DOT-regulated box truck to complete scheduled pickups and deliveries.
• Load and unload donations while maintaining item integrity and vehicle organization.
• Follow routes and schedules using mobile dispatch tools (DSS / iPad).
• Maintain communication with dispatch, warehouse, and supervisory staff.
• Support program beneficiaries in achieving work-therapy goals through guidance and mentoring.
• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections (air, oil, water, tires, lights, safety equipment).
• Ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations and safety standards.
• Report accidents, injuries, or safety concerns immediately.
• Wear appropriate PPE (gloves, masks, back guards) and maintain neat dress code for drivers.
• Be available for flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
