This is a job listing for Lutheran Settlement House

Official Title: Bilingual (English/Spanish) Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Specialist

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

IPV Specialists work in hospitals in a domestic violence prevention and response program. They are responsible for providing advocacy and individual and group counseling services. They also provide training, technical support, and program development within their hospital site. This position is on the Medical Advocacy team as a part of our Bilingual Domestic Violence Program.

This is an in-person position at the hospital from Mondays – Thursdays. On Fridays, the team works at our agency headquarters. All hospitals and agency sites are within Philadelphia city limits. A remote-work option is available after completion of the first 90-days.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Receive referrals from the healthcare setting and provide telephone counseling, advocacy, and resources.
• Maintain a caseload of 1-3 clients, providing 10 sessions each. Sessions include empowerment counseling, case management, advocacy, accompaniment, and referral services.
• Conduct outreach activities such as tabling and awareness campaigns on a regular basis.
• Facilitate task force meetings on IPV in healthcare settings with multidisciplinary stakeholders from the hospital and clinics.
• Develop and present workshops and trainings on IPV issues to the hospital community.
• Review cases with hospital teams and coordinate follow-ups when needed.
• Attend training and weekly supervision as required by agency and hospital partner.
• Evaluate program services using client surveys and develop new program concepts.
• Develop printed materials, public service announcements, and public relations as needed.
• Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience:

• A bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of related experience is required. Related experience includes outreach, counseling, advocacy, training, and/or education (with curriculum development).
• Experience working in a healthcare or community services setting is a plus.
• Flexible scheduling is required on occasional evenings and weekends. No overtime required.
• This position requires strong listening and interpersonal skills, effective problem-solving skills, and comfort with public speaking.
• Good documentation skills, attention to detail, and schedule management are also required.
• This position requires working on a team and independently. Candidates should have strong organization and communication skills.
• This position serves a diverse group of individuals with a high standard of client care.

Other Requirements:

• Hospital partners require proof of COVID, flu, and other vaccines (MMR, TDap, etc.).
• Hospital partners will conduct drug testing during the onboarding process.
• FBI fingerprinting, PA State Criminal background check, and Child Abuse Clearances before starting.
• Paid on-the-job training includes a state-mandated 40-hour domestic violence training. Five hours of double staffing within the BDVP program is also required.
