Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 1 year work experience.
  • Must complete the 40‑hour victim advocate training within the first 2 months of employment and secure Victim Service Provider certification.
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence or vulnerable populations preferred.
  • Proficiency in English and fluency in Spanish are essential.
  • Confidentiality and professional conduct required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline support to survivors, including greeting clients in person and by phone with professionalism and compassion.
  • Assist Case Managers and Advocates with client intake paperwork and documentation.
  • Help coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow‑up services.
  • Provide resource information and assist clients in accessing community services (housing, counseling, legal aid, public benefits, etc.).
  • Maintain organized and accurate client files (electronic and hard copy).
  • Enter data into case management systems and assist with reporting requirements.
  • Assist with grant documentation and service tracking as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating workshops, support groups, and outreach events.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the New Star Family Center is to provide victims of domestic violence and family violence access to comprehensive services from one location. Through community collaboration we offer programs and services designed to empower victims to become survivors and break the cycle of violence.

POSITION SUMMARY

The New Star Family Center Domestic Violence Program Assistant is responsible for providing administrative, logistical, and client support to the Case Manager and Advocates to ensure the efficient delivery of trauma-informed services to survivors of domestic violence and their families. This entry level position plays a key role in maintaining organized case records, coordinating services, and supporting daily program operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide frontline support to survivors, including greeting clients in person and by phone with professionalism and compassion.
  • Assist Case Managers and Advocates with client intake paperwork and documentation.
  • Help coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow‑up services.
  • Provide resource information and assist clients in accessing community services (housing, counseling, legal aid, public benefits, etc.).
  • Maintain organized and accurate client files (electronic and hard copy).
  • Enter data into case management systems and assist with reporting requirements.
  • Assist with grant documentation and service tracking as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating workshops, support groups, and outreach events.
  • Help track program supplies and request replenishment as necessary.
  • Provide general office support to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client information in accordance with agency policies and state/federal laws.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence or vulnerable populations preferred.
  • Ability to interact well with diverse persons, organizations, and groups.
  • Ability to organize and effectively manage multiple priorities, time and resources.
  • Strong communication skills and work as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in English and fluency in Spanish are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other management systems; comfortable using Zoom and other video conferencing applications.
EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
