Job description

The Professional Dog Trainer is a position within the Resort, reporting directly to the General Manager. We embody the mission of "Pet Lovers Delighting Pet Lovers" through being Playful, Passionate, Personal, and Professional. The ideal candidate will embrace this culture, be a team player, self-motivated, receptive to feedback, possess excellent communication skills, and have a keen attention to detail. This role is service-oriented, requiring a passion for helping people and experience with dogs, dog behavior, and reward-based training.

A Day In The Life

This role involves training dogs from puppies to those needing reinforcement, understanding client goals, observing behaviors, and developing training plans. You will communicate with pet parents, document progress, and sometimes train the owners. Expect to handle daily cleaning duties and enjoy the playful, rewarding environment.

Responsibilities
  1. Train assigned dogs daily.
  2. Develop training plans for behavior modification.
  3. Meet with clients to discuss expectations and progress.
  4. Provide enrichment activities for dogs in training.
  5. Document behaviors and training status in various formats.
  6. Follow LIMA standards, using positive reinforcement methods.
  7. Conduct group classes and private lessons.
  8. Assist with additional training sessions, including virtual.
  9. Collaborate with other departments and make business recommendations.
  10. Create social media content (photos, videos).
Qualities of Our Team

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of operant and classical conditioning in dog training (preferred).
  • 1-2 years of animal training experience or equivalent education.
  • Understanding of dog behavior and breed characteristics.
  • CCPDT certification or ability to obtain within one year.
