Under close supervision of a supervisor in the Office of Human Resources, as a trainee and productive worker in a state department, institution, or agency, receives on-the-job training in government personnel practices and procedures and application; performs routine work that will provide practical personnel experience; and performs other related work as required.
The position is located within the Benefits and Compensation Unit and involves a broad range of human resources responsibilities, including the administration of leaves of absence, payroll processing, workers' compensation, and employee benefit programs, as well as other related HR functions as required.
Note: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Four (4) years of professional experience relevant to the position.

Advancement: Appointees who successfully complete the twelve (12) month training period will be eligible for advancement to the following title under Civil Service Commission procedures: Personnel Assistant 4. The inability of an employee in this trainee title to attain a level of performance warranting advancement to the title listed above shall be considered as cause for separation.
