Job summary

Second-61 is seeking a Systems Engineer to support Scott Air Force Base near O'Fallon, IL. You will maintain Windows-based environments, server virtualization, and related management tools, ensuring reliable operation and security.

The role requires on-site duties at Scott AFB, occasional after-hours support during planned or emergency events, and collaboration with government stakeholders, vendors, and IT teams to resolve issues and meet evolving requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field.
• One of these IAT Level II certifications: Security+, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP.
• CE certification or certificate for network support/defense OR operating system area (e.g., Microsoft, Linux).
• Minimum of four years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016 in production environments.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; on-call work availability.
• Solid troubleshooting skills and end-to-end problem management experience.
• Knowledge of authentication functions and protocols (LDAP, Kerberos, AD).

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and maintain Windows OS and application software.
• Ensure high availability of systems and infrastructure.
• Perform system vulnerability remediation and reporting.
• Coordinate with vendors and IT staff for issue resolution.
• Interact with government customers and service owners to meet requirements.
• Manage server administration tasks and security permissions.
• Conduct patch management and software upgrades.
• Create maintenance procedures and document changes.
