Position: Manager, Warehouse

The Manager, Warehouse, will foster a warehouse culture emphasizing safety, service, and cost-efficiency through meaningful engagement with associates, delivering best-in-class service to customers, and ensuring safe, accurate, and timely operations in receiving, storage, and shipping.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Safety Leadership: Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring injury-free work environment by championing safety procedures and training.
  2. Team Development: Oversee and develop warehouse staff through coaching, training, and performance discussions; address performance gaps.
  3. Operational Management: Maintain efficient workflow through open communication and supervision of associates' work and productivity.
  4. Staffing and Engagement: Participate in hiring, performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions to build high-performing teams.
  5. Order Fulfillment: Lead associates to achieve accurate order processing, staging, and loading; oversee preparation for shipping and receiving.
  6. Performance Monitoring: Use operational data to ensure productivity targets are met; coach and counsel as needed.
  7. Dock Operations: Assign dock locations, ensure proper stocking per safety and FIFO protocols, and oversee replenishment and will-call activities.
  8. Facility Maintenance & Safety: Maintain physical condition and safety of the warehouse and equipment, report hazards, and ensure compliance with sanitation and FSQA standards.
  9. Inventory & Cost Control: Work with management to identify inventory shrinkage sources and develop improvement plans; analyze operations for expense reduction.
  10. Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Supervision

Direct supervision of union/non-union warehouse associates including loaders, selectors, receivers, and forklift drivers.

Relationships

Internal: Warehouse leaders, coworkers, departments (e.g., Sales). External: N/A.

Work Environment

Work occurs in warehouse environments, including cooler and freezer areas as low as -5°F.

Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of warehouse distribution experience.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and development skills.
  • Ability to interpret operational data and use basic computer tools.
Travel

Approximately 10%, mainly for meetings and training.

Education & Training
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
Preferred Certifications
  • HACCP and PCQI certifications are advantageous.
Physical Qualifications

Ability to perform physical activities such as driving forklifts, climbing, grasping, manipulating objects, and manual dexterity tasks.

Compensation

Base salary ranges from $55,000 to $90,000, depending on experience, education, location, and other factors.
