The Manager, Warehouse will ensure a warehouse culture focused on people, safety, service, and cost through meaningful engagements with warehouse associates, best-in-class service to customers, and safe and profitable operations. They will use their experience in warehouse operations to manage personnel and drive efficient warehouse operations through the associates they lead, ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely receiving and storage of inbound product or selection and loading of outbound product.

This application is only available to active-duty service members eligible to participate in a DoD SkillBridge Internship. The service member must be within the last 12 months of their active-duty contract. This is an unpaid, non-benefit eligible internship position in partnership with the DoD SkillBridge program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Lead with a safety mindset that ensures that every US Foods associate remains injury-free at all times. Champion safety procedures, processes, and training to create and maintain a safety-first culture in the warehouse.
  2. Oversee and develop warehouse associates through coaching, training, problem resolution, and leading by example. Discuss performance with senior managers and create improvement plans.
  3. Create a cohesive organization by maintaining open communication and directing workforce to ensure efficient workflow.
  4. Supervise the work and productivity of warehouse associates. Drive engagement and retention, embodying US Foods values.
  5. Participate in building high-performing teams by interviewing and hiring warehouse personnel, reviewing performance, coaching, and delivering disciplinary actions.
  6. Lead associates to achieve accurate orders, oversee staging and loading, and prepare the warehouse for shipping or receiving.
  7. Monitor operational data to ensure productivity targets are met, and take corrective actions as needed.
  8. Designate dock locations for inbound carriers, ensure proper stocking according to safety and FIFO procedures, and oversee will-call activities.
  9. Maintain warehouse safety and physical condition, including repairs and equipment requisitions.
  10. Work with management to identify inventory shrink sources and develop action plans. Analyze operations for improvements.
  11. Inspect the facility regularly for safety hazards and address them accordingly. Maintain warehouse and equipment condition.
  12. Ensure compliance with Master Sanitation Schedule and FSQA requirements.
  13. Schedule shifts using planning tools like Microsoft Excel.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Supervision

Direct supervision of union and/or non-union warehouse associates including loaders, selectors, receivers, forklift drivers, etc.

Relationships

Internal: Warehouse leaders, coworkers, and other departments (e.g., Sales). External: N/A.

Work Environment

Normal warehouse conditions, including cooler and freezer areas up to -5°F.

Minimum Qualifications
  • At least three years of warehouse distribution experience.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, methods, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
Travel

Approximately 10%, mainly for meetings and training.

Education/Training
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • HACCP and PCQI certifications are a plus.
Physical Qualifications

Ability to perform activities such as operating forklifts, pushing/pulling, climbing, grasping, manipulating objects, and manual dexterity for specified durations.

Compensation ranges from $55,000 to $90,000 depending on experience and location.
