The Operations Manager Trainee will work with all members of the branch and management team to develop technical and leadership skills necessary to support operational activities and achieve the branch’s goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, resolve, document, and report customer concerns and issues. Coordinate information between operations and sales.
- Ensure timely completion of paperwork for Drivers, including truck reports, logs, and vehicle inspections.
- Complete fuel reports, hours recap, and tonnage reports daily.
- Perform route audits on all vehicle product lines and familiarize with each line.
- Create and distribute work orders for Drivers and Helpers.
- Collaborate with customer service to address customer calls and questions.
- Schedule Drivers and Helpers properly.
- Coordinate with Drivers for missed stops and special pickups.
- Analyze productivity reports for improvements.
- Observe employee work habits and suggest improvement programs.
- Work with shop management to understand shop functions related to branch operations.
- Participate in safety meetings and activities; address safety hazards.
- Learn personnel matters like hiring, training, coaching, and termination.
- Adhere to laws, regulations, company policies, and directives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Five (5) years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Combination of education and experience acceptable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Operate dispatch/radio equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical skills for daily tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, and manuals.
- Ability to write reports and correspondence.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and climb.
- Visual requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision.
Working Conditions:
- Indoor office work about 50% of the time.
- Moderate noise levels.
- Ability to lift/move up to 15 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
