Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history — from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We seek individuals with bold ideas, courage, and a pioneering spirit to join us in inventing the future and having fun along the way.

Our culture fosters intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity, and authenticity — and we are driven by the impossible. Our employees are not just part of history; they are making history.

As one of the largest global security companies, Northrop Grumman proudly supports military personnel transitioning to civilian careers. About 25% of our 90,000 employees are veterans, and more than 1,600 are reservists.

The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under DoD Instruction 1322.29. It offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain civilian work experience through an internship during the last 6 months of service, up to 180 days. The program is open to all ranks and experience levels. Participants continue to receive military compensation and benefits during the internship.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting various laboratories including Composites, Material Acceptance Testing, and Mechanical Tests.
  • Performing tasks such as coupon and part builds, material testing, and providing technical insights.
  • Supporting standardized mechanical tests like tensile, compression, lapshear, and flexural tests.
  • Collaborating with engineering to evaluate test setups and data, documenting processes, and assisting in experiment design.
  • Communicating effectively and proficiently using Microsoft Office tools.

Qualifications include:

For Level 2:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (ASTMs) and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to read and execute test plans and work instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to evaluate and modify mechanical test setups.
  • Experience with test frame operation, data acquisition, and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency with calibrated tools like micrometers and calipers.

Salary ranges from $54,400 to $107,600 depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plans, paid holidays, and PTO.

The application process is estimated to take about 20 days. Northrop Grumman is an Equal Opportunity Employer. U.S. Citizenship is required for positions requiring a government clearance.
