A leading company in food services is seeking a Mechanic responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining a fleet of diesel road equipment. Qualifications

Mechanic will be responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of the fleet road equipment including tractors, trailers, Thermo King units, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles. Ensure compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. Mechanics will also be responsible for documentation, completion, and updating maintenance logs for all repairs and parts used daily. The position will require performing road rescue as needed.

This application is only available to active-duty service members eligible to participate in a DoD SkillBridge Internship. The service member must be within the last 12 months of their active-duty contract. This is an unpaid, non-benefit eligible internship position in partnership with the DoD SkillBridge program.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.).
  2. Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.
  3. Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability.
  4. Handle road service calls and perform road rescue/transport as needed.
  5. Log repairs and maintenance activities in the Shop Fax system.
  6. Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations and government guidelines.
  7. Manage inventory and recordkeeping.
  8. Provide backup support to other maintenance shop personnel.
  9. Willingness to assume increased responsibilities and obtain necessary certifications.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • At least 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic, or a combination of both; or 2 years of verifiable experience with Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.
  • Experience in administering preventive maintenance programs.

Additional requirements:

  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • CDL A and DOT certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability to organizational changes.
  • Computer literacy and experience with relevant software.
  • Flexible schedule including nights and weekends; overtime as needed.
