A leading company in food services seeks a Mechanic responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining Fleet road equipment. Mechanic will be responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of the Fleet road equipment including tractors, trailers, thermo-king units, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles. Ensure compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. Mechanics will also be responsible for documenting, completing, and maintaining current maintenance logs for all repairs and parts used daily. The position will require performing road rescue as needed.
This application is only available to active-duty service members eligible to participate in a DoD SkillBridge Internship. The service member must be within the last 12 months of their active-duty contract. This is an unpaid, non-benefit eligible internship position in partnership with the DoD SkillBridge program.
Responsibilities include troubleshooting, diagnosing, rebuilding, replacing, and completing repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.). Perform preventative maintenance within company standards. Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability. Handle road service calls and perform road rescue/transport as needed. Log repairs using the Shop Fax system. Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations and government guidelines. Manage inventory and keep proper records. Backup other maintenance shop personnel. Willingness to assume increased responsibilities and certifications. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements include at least 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel or reefer mechanic, or 2 years of experience with Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification, or both. Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively. Prior experience with an appropriate PM program. Must furnish personal hand tools. CDL A and DOT certification are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations; read and understand technical manuals; communicate effectively with team members and drivers; manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; adapt to organizational changes; utilize computer software; work flexible hours including nights and weekends; and work overtime as needed.
