The Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Fleet road equipment including tractors, trailers, thermo-king units, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles. Ensure compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. Mechanics will also be responsible for documenting, completing, and maintaining current maintenance logs for all repairs and parts used daily. The position will require performing road rescue as needed.
This application is only available to active-duty service members eligible to participate in a DoD SkillBridge Internship. The service member must be within the last 12 months of their active-duty contract. This is an unpaid, non-benefit eligible internship position in partnership with the DoD SkillBridge program.
Responsibilities include troubleshooting, diagnosing, rebuilding, replacing, and completing repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, reefers, lift gates, etc.). Perform preventative maintenance within company standards, document all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability. Handle road service calls and perform road rescue/transport as needed. Keep track of repairs through the Shop Fax system, maintain a clean and safe work environment, manage inventory and recordkeeping, and support other maintenance shop personnel. Willingness to assume increased responsibilities and certifications is required. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements include:
Must have diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, demonstrate independent analytical and problem-solving skills, and have prior experience in administering appropriate PM programs. Must furnish own personal hand tools. CDL A and DOT certification are preferred.
