Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University’s Applied Research Laboratory seeks a proactive Communications and Signal Processing Engineer to advance DoD/IC communications research. You will develop algorithms, prototype SDR-based capabilities, and evaluate PHY/waveforms in multidisciplinary teams on-site in State College, with possible hybrid arrangements.

Preferred candidates hold an advanced degree and experience with MATLAB/Python, C++, and signal processing; eligibility for security clearance is

Qualifications

  • Technical background in communications and signal processing including waveform design and channel modeling.
  • Strong experience with MATLAB or Python for simulation or analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical ideas clearly.
  • Eligible for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher; may require background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and evaluate advanced signal processing algorithms and communication techniques.
  • Model and simulate PHY protocols and waveforms for resilient systems.
  • Prototype communication capabilities using SDRs and open source tools.
  • Document findings and present results to sponsors; participate in field tests and demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with ARL teams and government sponsors on multidisciplinary projects.
