Job summary

Camgian is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Finance & Contracts department in Starkville, MS. You will prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and cost data for government contracting and DoD-focused finance, reporting to the Director of Finance & Contracts.

The role offers exposure to federal contract accounting, internal controls, and annual close processes, with growth as you learn. A recent accounting graduate is encouraged to apply, and relocation is not specified.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution, conferred by the start date.
• 0–2 years of professional accounting experience; internship, co‑op, or part‑time accounting experience welcome but not required.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP fundamentals, including accruals, revenue recognition, and cost allocation.
• Strong proficiency with Excel (lookups, pivot tables, and formulas).
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet recurring deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, and comfort asking questions and seeking direction.
• Ability to handle confidential financial data with discretion.
• United States Citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Prepare recurring and routine journal entries, accrual and prepaid schedules, and supporting workpapers for review and approval by the Director of Finance & Contracts.
• Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations, researching and documenting reconciling items.
• Process accounts payable, including invoice coding, verification of supporting documentation, and preparation of payment runs for approval.
• Review employee expense reports and corporate credit card transactions for accuracy, adequate documentation, and compliance with company policy.
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules, and prepare the related entries.
• Prepare assigned account analyses and roll‑forward schedules, and compile variance data for the Director’s review of monthly results.
• Assist with accounts receivable, cash application, and collections follow‑up.
• Other duties as assigned.
