Job summary

Davidson Technologies seeks a Software Engineer for an onsite role in Huntsville, AL. You will lead design, development, and integration of complex software and embedded systems supporting DoD aerospace programs.

The role emphasizes Agile/DevSecOps practices, rigorous documentation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate has extensive SDLC experience, knowledge of OO languages (C++, Java, Python), and a background in mission-critical software for DoD or aerospace domains.

Qualifications

Strong, hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, design, implementation, integration, testing, deployment).
Experience with object-oriented languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
Experience developing software for complex embedded or distributed systems.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum/SAFe).
Experience with version control, issue tracking, automated testing, and build/deployment tools.
Experience with CI/CD and/or DevSecOps environments.
Experience maintaining technical software documentation and engineering artifacts.
Ability to troubleshoot complex software issues and collaborate across disciplines.
Ten years of relevant software engineering experience.
Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline; substitution allowed with 4 years of additional experience.

Responsibilities

Analyzes requirements, ops concepts, and architectures to define software solutions meeting mission objectives.
Leads design, development, integration, testing, and maintenance of complex software applications and embedded systems.
Translates requirements into software architecture and design, delivering implementable work products.
Evaluates design options to meet performance and mission needs.
Provides technical leadership across architecture, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
Develops and maintains software documentation and engineering artifacts.
Collaborates with Systems Engineers, Software Architects, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and risks.
Supports integration and verification activities, including test strategy and defect resolution.
Contributes to Agile/DevSecOps practices including CI/CD and automated testing.
Ensures software solutions meet quality, cybersecurity, safety, and customer requirements.
Mentors engineers and helps evolve software processes and standards.
Maintains accountability for quality and delivery within scope.
