Job summary

ActioNet is seeking an Engineering and Installation Technician II in Oceanside, CA. The role requires 2–4 years of hands-on experience with structured cabling, telecom systems, and DoD environments. You will perform site surveys, install/test CAT5e/CAT6 cabling, telephony, and rack systems, supporting secure government facilities.

The position is full-time on-site with up to 20% travel. A secret clearance or higher is required, along with strong documentation and safety practices.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of hands-on experience in structured cabling and telecommunications installation.
• Active secret security clearance (or higher) required.
• Experience with CAT5e/CAT6, 66/110 blocks, cable transport systems, racks/cabinets, and grounding.
• Ability to work on DoD installations and obtain/maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, floor plans, and technical diagrams.
• Proficiency with cable testing equipment such as Fluke or TDR.
• Must lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined/elevated spaces.
• Valid driver’s license and strong written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, test, and label CAT5e/CAT6 structured cabling per standards.
• Install and support telephony systems and wall blocks, punch-downs, cross-connects.
• Install cable transport systems and penetrations through ceilings and walls.
• Mount telecommunications racks/cabinets on floors with seismic/weight considerations.
• Apply bonding/grounding techniques for cabling, pathways, and equipment.
• Install and support network hardware and maintain cable management in telecom rooms.
• Troubleshoot cabling, telephony, grounding, and connectivity issues.
• Produce as-built drawings, cable schedules, and test results.
• Coordinate with project managers/engineers/customers to meet DoD requirements.
• Follow safety and security procedures.
