• 7+ years of experience designing, developing, administering, supporting, or architecting OpenText Documentum environments.

• Experience designing and implementing enterprise Documentum solutions and customizations.
• Experience with Java and Documentum development technologies; DFC/WDK experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with SQL and/or Oracle databases.
• Experience with upgrades, migrations, platform enhancements, and modernization efforts.
• Experience with D2/AO upgrades or implementations is highly desirable.

Job Summary

The Documentum Architect will serve as a senior technical resource within an enterprise content management team responsible for the architecture, development, modernization, and ongoing optimization of Southern Company’s OpenText Documentum environment.

This role will provide technical leadership across the Documentum platform, including D2, Asset Operations (AO), Content Server, xPlore, and related technologies. The Architect will partner with solution owners, developers, infrastructure teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to evaluate requirements, design solutions, implement enhancements, support upgrades and integrations, and ensure the Documentum environment remains stable, scalable, secure, and current.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands‑on Documentum expertise along with the ability to operate at an architectural level—understanding the existing environment, identifying opportunities for improvement, establishing technical standards, and helping guide the future direction of the platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical architecture and leadership for enterprise OpenText Documentum applications and infrastructure.
• Design, develop, configure, implement, enhance, and optimize Documentum solutions, including D2, Asset Operations, Content Server, xPlore, and supporting components.
• Partner with business and IT stakeholders to gather requirements, assess needs, evaluate options, and translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Support the planning and execution of Documentum upgrades, migrations, enhancements, and modernization initiatives.
• Evaluate existing architecture and configurations and recommend improvements related to performance, scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
• Design and support integrations between Documentum and other enterprise applications and services.
• Provide expertise around the Documentum object model, architecture, configuration, administration, and customization.
• Develop and enhance Documentum solutions using Java and Documentum development technologies such as DFC/WDK.
• Work with SQL and/or Oracle databases supporting the Documentum environment.
• Evaluate, test, and implement new Documentum features, releases, add‑on components, patches, and upgrades.
• Propose and implement automation to improve deployment, administration, operational support, and overall platform efficiency.
• Establish and maintain architecture, development, configuration, and product‑usage standards.
• Conduct technical design and implementation reviews and provide guidance to other technical team members.
• Partner with OpenText and other technology vendors as needed to evaluate products, resolve complex technical challenges, and identify future capabilities.
• Provide senior‑level troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for complex application and platform issues.
• Maintain appropriate technical and architectural documentation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience designing, developing, administering, supporting, or architecting OpenText Documentum environments.

• Ability to work across architecture, development, infrastructure, database, and business teams.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and provide technical leadership with limited supervision.
