This role focuses on documenting IT operations, disaster recovery, continuity planning, cybersecurity processes, and compliance activities. You will transform complex technical information into clear, accurate, and accessible materials that support operational efficiency and audit readiness. Working closely with engineering, cybersecurity, compliance, and IT operations teams, you will ensure documentation remains aligned with evolving systems, procedures, and regulatory standards. You will also strengthen knowledge management practices, improve documentation consistency, and support compliance with Section 508 accessibility requirements and ITIL v4 best practices. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who combines strong technical writing skills with an understanding of federal IT operations and governance.

Accountabilities
  • You will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and standardizing technical documentation across IT operations, cybersecurity, and business continuity functions. Your work will help ensure that technical information is accurate, accessible, organized, and ready for operational and compliance reviews.
  • Technical Documentation Development: Develop, write, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), system guides, operational runbooks, process documentation, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Create and update technical manuals, workflow diagrams, process maps, and documentation supporting IT operations and system administration.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, structured, and user-friendly materials for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure documentation accurately reflects current system architectures, configurations, operational procedures, and technical changes.
  • Disaster Recovery and Continuity Planning: Maintain Disaster Recovery (DR), Continuity of Operations (COOP), contingency planning, and system recovery documentation.
  • Support the preparation of After-Action Reports (AARs), Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), disaster recovery test reports, and other operational deliverables.
  • Assist with documenting system recovery procedures, operational readiness activities, and continuity requirements.
  • Compliance and Audit Support: Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation requirements, including contingency planning controls and supporting compliance artifacts.
  • Ensure technical documentation meets Section 508 accessibility standards and established organizational formatting requirements.
  • Organize technical documentation, compliance evidence, and supporting materials for internal and external audits and assessments.
  • Help maintain documentation aligned with federal and DoD standards, cybersecurity requirements, and ITIL v4 best practices.
  • Knowledge and Document Management: Maintain document repositories, version control, revision histories, naming conventions, and archival procedures.
  • Develop and maintain standardized templates, style guides, and documentation processes to ensure consistency across deliverables.
  • Manage document updates, approval workflows, change tracking, and quality assurance activities.
  • Review existing documentation to identify gaps, outdated information, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaboration and Continuous Improvement: Work with engineering, cybersecurity, IT operations, and compliance teams to gather, validate, and maintain technical information.
  • Apply ITIL v4 principles to support standardized IT service management documentation and workflows.
  • Recommend improvements to documentation quality, accessibility, usability, and efficiency.
  • Adapt documentation practices to evolving technologies, operational requirements, and compliance standards.
Requirements
