Job description

Who you are:

The Manufacturing Document Control Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient management, organization, and compliance of all manufacturing documentation and records. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate, up-to-date documents related to manufacturing processes, quality control, regulatory requirements, and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and an understanding of manufacturing and quality management systems.


What you will be doing:

  • Document Control: Manage the creation, revision, and distribution of manufacturing documents, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), batch records, specifications, and engineering change orders (ECOs).

  • Version Control: Maintain proper version control for all documents and ensure outdated versions are archived and removed from circulation.

  • Document Filing: Organize and file physical and electronic records in a systematic manner to ensure quick access and retrieval.

  • Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits by providing requested documents and ensuring all records are properly maintained and up-to-date.

  • Training and Support: Provide training to manufacturing and quality teams on proper document control procedures and ensure that employees adhere to established guidelines.

  • Data Entry & Reporting: Maintain accurate data entry into document control systems and generate reports related to document status, changes, and approvals.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, production, and other teams to ensure seamless document flow and accurate record-keeping across departments.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvements related to document control, storage, and retrieval methods and recommend solutions.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Manufacturing, Quality Management) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in document control or administrative support within a manufacturing or quality environment.
  • Strong understanding of ERP and Document Control software
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, regulatory, and quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles is a plus.

About our client:

Our client is a small entrepreneurial manufacturing company located in Peabody, MA. We have three different divisions that primarily supply automated Semiconductor OEM's. The Precision Fabrication Group has the engineering expertise and the machining capabilities to make challenging components and assemblies. The Specialized Welding Group supports stainless steel gas lines and panels as well as vacuum process chambers. The System Manufacturing Group is a contract manufacturer that builds and tests complete systems for our customers.
