Job summary

Ninth Avenue Foods is seeking a Document Control Specialist to organize and maintain QA documentation, coordinate supplier information, and track food safety metrics. This hands-on role reports to the Quality Systems Manager and supports SQF program activities across the facility.

The candidate will ensure compliance with food safety regulations, SOPs, and recordkeeping, while collaborating with operations to uphold sanitation programs and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel
  • Strong understanding of HARPC and risk-based controls
  • Experience with HACCP programs and HACCP certification
  • Knowledge of FSMA regulations and PCQI certification
  • Minimum 6 months QA experience in Food Safety and SQF implementation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field

Job description

Role Description

The Document Control Specialist is responsible for organization and maintenance of the QA department documentation. Additionally, this position will review process control records, coordinates efforts with suppliers to ensure that the most current and accurate information is available for the SQF Practitioner to review, also coordinates reporting of food safety and quality control metrics, and finished product specification compliance.

This is a hands on role that Reports directly to the Quality Systems Manager and will have a support role with responsibilities for the development, implementation, review, monitoring, validation, and auditing of the SQF system, including the Food Safety Fundamentals and Food Safety Plan. This position will ensure compliance to applicable food safety, customer, quality, and regulatory requirement. The candidate must understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations (including all food safety training and food safety information) associated with this position which is written in English. This position will also work closely with operations to ensure facility & equipment sanitation program is effective.

Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel required)
  • Must have a thorough understanding of risk based preventive controls (HARPC).
  • Must have experience with plant’s HACCP program (HACCP certification required).
  • Must have understanding of FSMA regulations, including PCQI certifications
  • Must have at least 6months of Quality Assurance experience in Food Safety and SQF Program Implementation.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or other related Science based degrees
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with variety of individuals
  • Must be able to work nights or weekends with prior notice from Quality Systems

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of associates and teams
  • Ability to read, analyze, and technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Strong ability to analyze relevant data/information and provide summary and trend reporting where appropriate
