Job summary

Xpress Global Systems (XGS) is seeking warehouse dockworkers in Houston to load and unload freight, sort products, and keep the dock area organized. You will use barcode scanners and possibly pallet jacks or forklifts to move freight and ensure accurate loading from receiving to the dock.

The role requires attention to detail, basic warehousing procedures, and the ability to read work orders. Schedule is Monday–Friday with a 9 AM start time, offering $19.00 per hour and a stable day shift.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months warehousing or fulfillment experience.
• Experience as a fulfillment associate preferred.
• Knowledge of warehousing procedures is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders.
• Attention to detail is essential.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must meet minimum hiring criteria.

Responsibilities

• Unload delivery trucks and move merchandise into the warehouse.
• Handle loading/unloading with hand tools or pallet jacks/forklifts as needed.
• Use barcode scanners to read product barcodes.
• Scan freight and ensure correct destination labeling and routing.
• Follow screen prompts for assigned tasks and update records accordingly.
• Verify shipping information against orders and update databases.
• Receive and store inventory; confirm merchandise matches work orders.
• Attach barcodes for tracking and finalize work orders.
• Inspect items for damage and ensure quality standards.

Overview

XGS warehouse dockworkers are responsible for loading and unloading freight by hand or by using a pallet jack/forklift, sorting product, and ensuring that trailers are properly and accurately loaded. This position includes using a barcode scanner and helps to maintain the service center dock as neat and orderly.

Responsibilities

• Offloading delivery trucks transporting merchandise into the warehouse
• May load or unload by hand, or with freight handling tools such as lift truck, pallet jack, or side cart
• Use scanners to read bar codes on products
• Scan barcode on freight & ensure each freight movement to rack, floor or loading door
• View prompts on screens and follow the direction for some tasks
• Verify shipping information from the scan unit to ensure freight is labeled to go to the correct destination
• Receive and put away inventory
• Confirming merchandise information matches that of the work order
• Attach barcodes to freight for tracking and routing
• Finalizing the work order and updating the database
• Inspecting the merchandise for damage, flaws, and irregularities
• Ensure product meets quality requirements
• Report overage, shortages, and damages according to operating procedures
• Sort and segregate freight by destination
• Verify freight counts
• Dock clean-up as needed
• May include other duties as assigned by Management

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
• Experience operating lift truck, pallet jack, or side desiredFrequently lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds; pull up to 100 pounds and push up to 50 pounds
• Occasionally climb stairs
• Frequently stoop, kneel or crouch

ENVIRONMENT

Most work is conducted in a comfortable office environment but exposure to site conditions may also occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn in all areas as required. Although the work usually is not considered inherently dangerous, must be careful while performing onsite services.
