Job summary

Manthey Hospitality is seeking a skilled Welder / Fitter / Fabricator to join our Fleet Maintenance team in Tampa, FL. The role involves fabricating, welding, and repairing vessels and marine structures, with on-site work at our Fleet Maintenance Center.

The position emphasizes hands-on welding in steel and aluminum, reading blueprints, and maintaining safety standards. A practical welding test is required, and TWIC is preferred or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year welding and fabrication experience.
• Experience welding steel and aluminum.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Working knowledge of welding safety standards and PPE requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to successfully pass a practical welding test.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• TWIC Card required or ability to obtain and maintain.
• Preferred: marine/shipyard or industrial fabrication experience; welding apprenticeship; AWS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work safely and in accordance with company safety standards and PPE requirements.
• Cut, fit, fabricate, and weld steel and aluminum components to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and measurements.
• Select appropriate materials, welding equipment, and welding methods based on project requirements.
• Operate hand and power tools including grinders, saws, sanders, calipers, and measuring devices.
• Align, position, clamp, and secure components prior to welding.
• Perform welding in a variety of positions using TIG, MMA, and other applicable processes.
• Repair and reinforce vessel structures, gangways, docks, and related equipment.
• Inspect completed work to ensure structural integrity, quality, and compliance with specifications.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
• Assist with general ship repair and marine maintenance projects as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
