Responsibilities

  • Review pleadings, notices, and court orders for calendaring requirements.
  • Enter deadlines into CourtAlert and calculate deadlines per court rules.
  • Calendar hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, CMCs, and trial dates.
  • Update calendar entries and maintain accurate docket information.
  • Ensure deadlines are entered timely and accurately.
  • Communicate with attorneys, assistants, and staff on calendaring questions.

Job description

O'Hagan Meyer is seeking a full-time DocketClerk to join itsSan Francisco,CAoffice. We are looking for candidates thathave an eye for detail,resourceful, and care about thelittle things.Candidateswillhave at least one year of docketing experience, andbackground indocketingor litigation supportandadministration.

Mustpossessprofessional communication skills (written,verbaland interpersonal) and can follow procedures and ask questions when unsure.A paralegal certificate or other legal education is a plus.

TheDocketClerk willbe responsible forcalendaring court dates, deadlinetrackingand docketing maintenance across multiple jurisdictions.This is an entry-level role designed for someone detail-oriented, reliable, and eager to build a foundation in litigation support and court procedures.The Docket Clerk alsoprovidestimelyreports of response dates on a regular basis andworkson specific projects and research assignments.

Requirements
Primary Duties Include but are not limited to:
  • Review pleadings, correspondence, notices, andcourtorders for calendaring requirements.
  • Accurately calculate deadlinesin accordance withstate, federal, appellate, and local court rules under the direction of legal assistants/attorneys.
  • Enter deadlines into the firm's docketing/calendaring software, CourtAlert.
  • Calendar hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, CMCs, and trial dates.
  • Update existing calendar entries when instructed.
  • Verify attorney/legal assistant instructions before calendaring unusual or ambiguous events.
  • Assistwith opening new matters andmaintainingaccuratecase information in CourtAlert case profiles.
  • Ensure all deadlines are enteredtimelyand accurately.
  • Communicate with legal assistants, paralegals, and attorneysregardingcalendaring questions.
  • Escalate complex calendaring issues to senior docket staff.
  • Maintain organized records of docket requests and completed work.
  • Follow departmental procedures and quality control standards.
  • Meet departmental turnaround times and serve levelexpectations.
  • Assistwith overflow work when needed.
  • Participate in training and continuingeducationon court rule changes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Help prepare reports and deadline summaries

Ideal candidate should have a very strong understanding ofthe litigation process as well asFederal, State and Local court rules and procedures, excellent computer skills with knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, MS Excel, and MS Office, including Outlook; excellent oral and written communication skills; exceptional attention to detail; able to work independently as well as with the team; Working well as a team in a congenial office; exceptional organizational skills.Experience with CourtAlert or other docketing programs is a plus.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.

Salary: $50,000 - $70,000
