Purpose of Position
The second shift Dock Worker/Jockey CDL A will assist the second shift by stagging trailers in appropriate docks, assisting in loading and unloading trailers, helping transfer freight from one terminal to another, dropping trailers at customer facilities as needed, and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
  • Perform trailer movements by attaching drive unit to trailers to move to and from dock doors for loading and unloading.
  • Help load, unload, and cross-dock freight as needed.
  • Check trailer lights and tires and inspects trucks for defects before and after trips.
  • Submit reports indicating truck’s conditions after trips.
  • Check empty trailers to ensure cleanliness.
  • Work with Second Shift Manager to maintain equipment inventory on NHT trailers (load bars, bulkheads, shrink wrap, etc.).
  • Monitor truck/trailer refrigeration units, checking temperatures and fuel levels, topping off fuel tanks as needed.
  • Provide help with shuttling freight and trailers between customer locations.
  • Maintain an orderly lot and paperwork for trailer locations by performing daily yard checks.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and rules.
  • Report any broken, damaged, or malfunctioning warehouse equipment.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the team to meet warehouse needs.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies.
  • Follow company practices and report noncompliance when observed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED / equivalent
  • Class A CDL
  • Must be able to operate a yard truck safely
  • Forklift Certification preferred (will train and certify a qualified candidate)

Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions:
The Dock Worker/Jockey CDL A must have the ability to safely perform physical requirements of the position, including frequently moving around; frequently stand, bend, twist, stoop, and squat; regularly walk continually sit or stand for up to 10 hours; regularly push, pull and lift 20 lbs., and periodically lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and dusty.
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm and overtime as needed to fulfill assigned work.
